You can fix your Apple Watch’s “ghost touch” problem

The Apple Watch is a great little device. I love mine and I rarely go anywhere without it. But like most technology, it can encounter problems. Most notably right now, many Apple Watch wearers are reporting an ongoing "ghost touch" issue, where the screen reacts even when it's not being touched. This problem is plaguing users of both older and latest Apple Watch models.

The ghost touch issue is nothing new: reports of the problem have been popping up for at least the past few years, and Apple still hasn't publicly disclosed the cause. While in most cases this issue is just an annoyance, it can be serious, especially if you're using the watch with the "Erase on incorrect code" security setting turned on.

I recently encountered this problem with my Apple Watch Ultra 2. All of a sudden, my watch display started glitching, cycling through different apps and options. I tried turning it off, but Ghost Touch prevented me from doing so because you have to swipe "power off" from the touch screen.

How to fix ghost touch issues on Apple Watch

So, what would you do in this situation? Fortunately, there is a way to hard reset your Apple Watch without using the screen. Simply press and hold the Digital Crown and the side button below it until the watch turns off and you see the Apple logo on the screen.

If "turn off and on again" seems like a weak solution, it's worth noting that this is actually Apple's "official" solution to the problem. The only problem is, it doesn't always work - some users report that the problem reappears even after a hard reset.

Unfortunately, if a hard reset doesn't solve your problem, the only solution is to try again until the problem is resolved. There are currently no other solutions, and considering it's been nearly two years since the issue first appeared on the Apple Watch Series 7, it's unlikely Apple will offer a fix anytime soon. Who else are you calling?
