Dolphin is a free mobile web browser for iOS and Android devices. While Dolphin isn't as popular as Chrome, Safari, or Firefox, it has a loyal following for its ease of use, customizability, and small footprint. Here's how to customize the Dolphin mobile web browser for iPhone and iPad devices running iOS 8.0 or later.
Dolphin comes with a variety of modes and features so you can customize how you use your mobile browser. Here's how to access the Dolphin menu and what its options mean.
Download the Dolphin browser to your iPhone or iPad.
Open the app and tap the dolphin icon at the bottom of the screen.

The following are the functions provided by each Dolphin menu item.
When you click Add Page , you can choose to Add Bookmark , Add Speed Dial , or Add Gesture .
- Click Add Bookmark to add the page to the bookmarked website, similar to how other browsers work.
- Click "Add Speed Dial" to add the page to your homepage so you can quickly launch it with a click.
- Click Add Gesture to create a quick shorthand design to launch your page. For example, create a simple L gesture to launch Lifewire.com.
When you click Share , you can share the page to Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Evernote, or Pocket. If you're logged into Dolphin on another phone or tablet, you can also send the page to the other device. Click More to send the page via text, email, AirDrop, and more.
Click Refresh to reload the page.
This feature allows you to search and find specific text on web pages. Click "Find on page" to display the search box. Enter your search query, click Search , and view the results.
Click "Download" to display a list of all downloaded files.
Click on Sonar and Gesture to draw gestures to command Dolphin to visit frequently visited sites. Click the gear icon to view a list of existing gestures, or click "Create Gesture" to create a new gesture and associate it with a URL.
Selecting private mode prevents Dolphin from saving browsing activity to your device. Upon activation, browser history, cookies, cache and login credentials are not saved. Click private mode again to return to normal.
Tap Night Mode to dim the screen to prevent eye strain when browsing in the dark. Click Night Mode again from the menu to return to normal.
Click Classic Tab Mode to display all open tabs at the top of the browser window, similar to desktop browsers. Click classic tab mode again to return to normal.
Click Desktop mode to display the desktop version of the site instead of the default mobile-friendly version.
Click Disable Images to prevent Dolphin from loading images. This limits your data usage and allows pages to load faster.
Click Auto Full Screen to hide the menu bar at the bottom of the screen when scrolling.
Click "Toolbox" to access any plug-ins or extensions added to Dolphin.
In addition to the Dolphin menu options, Dolphin settings can also be used to customize the way the browser works. To access Dolphin browser settings:
Select the dolphin from the bottom of the screen.
Click the gear icon in the lower left corner.
The Dolphin settings page appears.
The following is a brief overview of what Dolphin browser settings control.
Under Dolphin Service you will find Account & Sync . Click Accounts & Sync to use the cloud-based Dolphin Connect service to sync content and settings across all your devices running Dolphin.
You can also sync and share Dolphin content with Evernote, Facebook and Pocket.
Under the browser settings you will find the option to enable landscape/portrait lock so that you can lock one view in the browser. Click Font Size to set Default , Medium , or Large font size. Click Search Engine to set your default search engine of choice, choosing from Yahoo !, Google , Bing , DuckDuckGo , or Wikipedia .
Also under Browser Settings , click Link Options to choose to open the link in a new tab or the current tab, or leave the default action. Click Start where you left off or open a new tab. Click Clear data to clear your browsing history, cookies, cache, and passwords.
Also, under Browser Settings , click Password on startup to require a Touch ID or PIN password to open and use Dolphin. Turn off the page slide switch and you won't be able to slide back and forth between pages. Turn on Save Passwords to recall passwords used to access certain web pages. Enable Pop-up Blocking to prevent pop-up ads and windows from appearing on web pages. Turn on ad blocking to prevent ads from appearing on web pages.
The last section " About Us " displays the Dolphin version number. Click Tell us what you think and open your email box to send feedback to the Dolphin support team. Click to rate Dolphin to give the app five stars in the App Store or provide feedback via email. Click to stay in the loop to subscribe to the Dolphin email newsletter.
The last item is the user experience improvement plan . Turn on this option to send usage data to the Dolphin development team. This mostly anonymous data is used to improve future versions of the browser.
