How to track iPhone from Android phone

what to know

  • Easiest: Log in to iCloud.com in your browser, select "Find My" , and then click on your iPhone to locate it.
  • The next easiest way is: If you have Google Maps Timeline enabled on your iPhone, go to timeline.google.com on Android.
  • Other location trackers also work, such as Life360. But they need to be set up before the iPhone goes missing.

This article explains three ways to track all currently supported iPhones on any Android device.

Find My is Apple's device tracker, so it's a great option for locating a lost iPhone. It does require that you already have Find My set up on your iPhone, but then it's very easy to find your iPhone from your Android device. All you need is a web browser. Let's see how it works:

When setting up Find, enable the Send last location option. This ensures location is determined even when the battery is exhausted. However, if your iPhone is running iOS 15 or later, you can still find its location even if the device is turned off.

  1. Sign in to iCloud.com using your Apple ID.

If you're doing this on a phone other than your own, be sure to use Chrome in incognito mode (other browsers have similar options). This way, none of your personal information will be remembered when you're done.

  2. Select Find My .

  3. Click the device you want to target. You will see its current or recent location on the map.

  4. There are some other options on this screen (pictured above) that may be useful to you, depending on where you lost your iPhone:

    • If your phone is nearby , playing a sound can help.
    • Marking it as lost locks your iPhone so others can't get into it.
    • Wiping this device will remotely wipe the iPhone.

If the browser is in incognito mode, be sure to log out of iCloud by exiting open tabs and closing the browser.

You can also use Google Maps to track your iPhone, but, like Find My, you must turn on tracking before your phone is lost.

For this method to work, Google Maps must be installed and location access needs to be turned on for your iPhone. To do this, select your profile picture at the top of the Google Maps iPhone app, go to Settings > Personal Content , and make sure Location Services and Timeline are turned on.

  1. Open Google Maps Timeline from Android and log in to the same account you use on your iPhone. Any web browser should work.

  2. Select the date your phone was lost.

  3. Zoom in to find the nearest point on the map. This is the last time Google Maps tracked your iPhone's location.

Using a cell phone tracking app is also a great tool for locating a lost or stolen iPhone. However, the app must be installed before the phone is lost.

To be on the safe side, use an app that's compatible with iOS and Android, such as Life360. Have a friend with an Android device install the same app so if you need to find your iPhone, you can simply browse the app to find it.
