Samsung promises affordable innovation and security with new Galaxy A models

Getting higher-end features on a more affordable phone is always a good thing.

Samsung on Monday launched two new affordable smartphones in its A-series: Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G. The phones feature Samsung's Knox Vault security suite, a display called Vision Booster that adjusts to its surroundings, and a camera "inspired by its high-end phones."

Samsung launches its A-series phones every year, targeting budget-conscious consumers. They often offer solid performance and specs at a lower price than flagship models.

"With the Galaxy A series, we are bringing the latest technology to a wider audience so that more people can benefit from it," TM Roh, president and head of mobile experience at Samsung, said in a statement. We are proud to enable Galaxy A series users to enjoy a great mobile experience safely and securely.”

Galaxy A55 5G features "Advanced Artificial Intelligence Image Signal Processing (ISP)" technology, a first for an A-series phone, to deliver clearer and more vivid images even in low-light conditions. It also has 12-bit HDR video and Night Portrait mode, along with optical image and video stabilization along with the A35.

Samsung's Knox Vault is a hardware-based security solution that physically isolates your data from the main processor and memory. This keeps things like PINs, passwords, encryption keys, and login patterns more secure from hackers. It works with Samsung Knox, a "multi-layered security platform" designed to keep the rest of your data safe. The Galaxy A series also offers an auto-blocker that prevents the installation of unauthorized apps, scans apps for malware, and blocks potentially malicious code and commands when connected to USB. Samsung also offers Private Sharing, a way to share files securely through encryption and limiting screenshots or downloads to your phone.

There's no pricing information yet, but Samsung does promise that the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G will be compatible with the rest of the Galaxy ecosystem, working seamlessly with the Galaxy Fit3, Watch6, and Galaxy Buds FE.
