What is ESPN+ and how does ESPN's streaming service work?

ESPN+ is a standalone streaming service from ESPN where you can stream UFC events as well as MLB, NHL and Major League Soccer games, as well as documentaries, original programming, on-demand classic games, exclusive content and more. Here's everything you need to know about ESPN+ and how to start streaming live sports.

Download the ESPN app for iOS or Android and upgrade to ESPN+ via in-app purchase to access ESPN+ on your mobile device. To watch on your TV or computer, get ESPN+ through the ESPN app or channel on a Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV streaming device, or through a Samsung Smart TV. Or, watch on a web browser, Xbox, PlayStation, and more.

Signing up for ESPN+ doesn't require a cable subscription, but true sports fans may not want to cut the cord completely just yet, since ESPN+ doesn't allow viewing of NBA or NFL games or major events on other channels.

Visit ESPN for a complete list of ESPN+-enabled devices and help setting up the app.

ESPN+ has an impressive array of mainstream and eclectic sports content. Watch live Major League Baseball, National Hockey League and Major League Baseball games, as well as some college sports, PGA golf, boxing and tennis matches.

If you're a UFC fan, you'll have access to special events, exclusive contests and pay-per-view events you can't watch anywhere else. If you're a fan of alternative sports, you'll enjoy rugby, cricket, Canadian Football League games, and other international sports.

In addition to live games and contests, gain access to written articles, sports podcasts, news, score updates, fantasy football information, original programming, condensed versions of ESPN SportsCenter recaps and NFL Prime Time series, as well as a library of documentaries and other on-demand content.

ESPN+ costs $10.99 per month or $109.99 per year. It's also included in the basic bundle with Hulu and Disney Plus for $14.99 per month (all with ads), and the Premium bundle with $24.99 per month (Disney+ and Hulu without ads). If you're a sports fan, it's probably worth paying about $110 per year to access such a wide range of sports content. If you're a UFC fan, this is almost a given.

While ESPN+ won't cover all your sports needs (no NFL or NBA games), it's a great addition to your sports media options.
