Red's friend ends up being one of the real MVPs of the new season, even if her secret hideout meets an unfortunate end. What happens to the inmates in the pool on Orange Is the New Black ? Although their futures are uncertain, they are united and taking a stand.
Not only was Frieda an expert survivalist who could think of multiple ways to kill a person, but she had her own Litchfield sanctuary in an abandoned pool for decades. During the riot, several inmates were welcomed into her home away from home. It was the only place police didn't search until Caputo informed them of its location. The season ends on a cliffhanger as the ten prisoners (Taystee, Cindy, Nicky, Suzanne, Piper, Alex, Red, Gloria, Blanca, and Frieda) are about to be discovered.
What will happen to these ten women? The show seems to be ominously warning us that there will be casualties. The Governor authorized the use of deadly force. The prisoners did have a gun loaded with metal bullets in the bunker, not pepper spray. Will anyone die in Season 6 besides Piscatella? It seems possible, but I don't want to think about it.
Namely, in the final moments of the series, the prisoners hold hands and detonate a stick of dynamite at the entrance. While we don't see them setting it up, I'm pretty sure that's what happens. The explosives were introduced earlier in the season and gave me a major flashback to Lost . It looks like a deus ex machina, but Frida also made a poison dart out of kitchen supplies. I will allow it. It was her idea of surrendering while maintaining her dignity.
How much did the explosives destroy? Will Lichfield collapse on them? Did they at least eliminate any riot police? The explosion might just get their attention, and they'd be taken to the other prisoners.
This group includes women who have been on Orange Is the New Black since its first season. While we don't know much about Frieda this season, fans have grown with them. Whatever happens next for them is important — and something tells me the fight isn't over yet.
