Ariana Grande drives 130% surge in searches for oversized hoodies in 2018

Does anyone in Hollywood have a more iconic look than Ariana Grande? No, probably not, her fans are certainly most concerned about the singer's appearance. In fact, Ariana Grande's oversized hoodie caused a 130% spike in searches for the garment, because apparently no one wanted to say "thank you, next" to the Wonder Woman's style.

According to Billboard, fashion search website Lyst compiled a list of musicians who had the greatest impact on fashion in 2018, and Ariana Grande topped the list. While you might think the item that caused the 130% spike in searches was Grande's famous ponytail, it's actually her hoodie.

When it comes to Grande looks, there are two must-haves: over-the-knee boots and an oversized sweatshirt. The singer is the queen of ultra-casual looks that mix an oversized hoodie in multiple sizes with sexy over-the-knee boots. Apparently, people really liked it.

While the work of artists like Camila Cabello and Rihana inspired surges in searches for items like red dresses and balaclavas, they don't even come close to Grande's signature movement 130% of searches for shirts. Apparently, people really like comfort. Who would have thought?

Grande's sweatshirt is part of her style and seems to be designed for big events. Back in March, Grande paired a March for Our Lives sweatshirt with over-the-knee boots while performing at an event in Washington, D.C.

In 2017, Grande organized the "One Love Manchester" event to raise funds for fans and attendees affected by terrorist attacks at city stops on her "Dangerous Woman" tour. Last year, Grande again wore an oversized sweatshirt while performing on stage.

Grande's style isn't just for show, either. She also wore this look on TV shows. While on "Jimmy Fallon," she surprised the singer's fans by performing a cover of her song with the late-night host. In the adorable video, Grande once again wears an oversized sweatshirt and a pair of her signature over-the-knee boots.

Even in her most recent appearance on The Tonight Show , Grande put her own twist on a Christmas sweater (but it wasn't ugly). While performing her new single "Imagine," she wore an oversized red sweatshirt with a large white snowflake on the front, her famous boots and her better-known ponytail. Somehow, Grande was able to pull off this look seamlessly without just looking like she wasn't wearing anything. If only we could all be so lucky.

If you've been dying to see if you can pull off Grande's oversized sweatshirt look, you're obviously not alone. With searches for the garment surging 130%, it could become the next big trend in 2019. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to wear an oversized hoodie all the time? If there's a celebrity-inspired trend coming out next year, this one's pretty solid.
