Air Fried Apple Pie Recipe

Apple pie ingredients:

  • 2 honeycrisp apples
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Store-bought puff pastry
  • flour for dusting

Brown sugar frosting ingredients:

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar

Apple Pie Instructions:

Chop the apples and add to the wok over medium heat. Add butter, sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Cook for 10-15 minutes or until tender. In a cup, mix cornstarch and water until dissolved. Add to pan and cook 1-2 minutes or until thickened. Set aside to cool.

Allow puff pastry to defrost if necessary. Dust surface with flour and use rolling pin to roll out to about ⅛ inch thick. Cut into 6 equal parts. Add cool apple pie filling to 3 of them. Use your fingers and water to moisten the edges. Place equal-sized pieces of puff pastry on top and push down on the edges to seal. Use a fork to seal further. Add gaps to help steam escape.

Place in air fryer and cook at 375° for 8-10 minutes. Depending on your air fryer, you may need to flip halfway through to get even browning. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to air fry the patties individually.

Brown Sugar Frosting Instructions:

Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Add brown sugar and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. Once the mixture comes together, add the milk. Bring to a boil, then immediately remove from heat. Add vanilla extract and 3/4 cup sifted powdered sugar. Stir until thickened. (Optional: add sea salt if desired).

On a baking sheet lined with a wire rack, drizzle glaze over apple pie. Optional: Top with nuts, orange or lemon zest.

Let it cool/harden and enjoy!
