Leslie Fhima rang in her birthday and the final days of 2023 in a very unexpected way. On Dec. 31, the Bachelorette runner-up revealed that she was hospitalized on her 65th birthday, sharing an Instagram Story video from her bed.
"I know everyone wants to know what I did on my 65th birthday," she said, according to ScreenRant. "I spent it in the hospital."
As she explained to fans on New Year's Eve, Leslie went to the emergency room after experiencing severe cramps. It turned out she had an intestinal obstruction and had to undergo emergency surgery to fix the problem, which she said was caused by "random stuff" left over from a previous medical procedure.
"This is actually scar tissue from an appendectomy I had when I was 18," she said. "Happy New Year, then!"
Fortunately, Leslie said she stayed in the hospital for more than three days and was able to go home later that day. "I'm so excited to go home and be with my dog," she said. She ended the video by advising fans: "If you have a serious stomach bug, don't wait 12 hours to go to the hospital like I did."
Will Leslie attend Gerry's wedding?
The personal trainer may have won bachelor Gerry Turner's heart during the show's first season, but she didn't get an engagement ring as Gerry chose to propose to Theresa Nestor in the season finale.
During the After the Final Rose special, Leslie said she was "blindsided" by the split. "I'm 100 percent sure I'm his girl," she said. She even told Gerry that their private conversations convinced her that he would choose her.
"I always believed you were mine until I suddenly realized you weren't," he replied. "Leslie, there's nothing really wrong with this, it's just... it would be better with someone else."
Gerry and Teresa, still affectionate for Leslie, invited her to their wedding, which will be televised on January 4 along with the other Bachelor Kim ladies.
Leslie has yet to confirm her attendance after suffering a medical emergency.
