Why Octavia is the real hero of 'The 100'

Life on Earth isn't easy, especially after living in space for nearly a century, but the teenage criminals on "The 100" quickly adapt to their new surroundings. Although Clark was quickly named leader, Octavia has proven to be the true hero of The 100 . I mean, sure, she wasn't my favorite character to begin with (in fact, not even close to it), but life turned against her, and after nearly two decades hiding on the floor of her family's space apartment , this girl just wants to be free.

Octavia's initial innocence and reckless abandon soon comes to a halt upon meeting the ever-sexy Lincoln, and their ground-level human love blossoms into a beautiful bond of mutual respect, strength, and trust. He showed her the way of the Grounders and she made it her own. Now no longer as rough as a warrior, Octavia will protect her leader and people at all costs. She risked her own life time and time again to protect the people she loved from harm. This is why Octavia is the worst bad guy in The 100.

1. She literally dives into uncharted waters

At the time, it seemed like the wrong decision. The kind that makes you scream at the TV screen, "Get out of the lake!" But knowing Octavia over the past two seasons, this is her style. She dives in first and thinks later, not the other way around.

2. She fully owns her desires

When Octavia finally emerged from her small room on the floor, and then her cell, all she wanted to do was party. After her first landing, she had sex with multiple direct passengers and made no apology for it. Why did she do this? She was young and energetic and in a completely new place. Why not have some fun?

3. She put herself in danger to end Lincoln’s torture

Some might call it Stockholm Syndrome, but most people can see that Octavia and Lincoln had a pure and endearing love from the beginning. As Bellamy and Clarke torture him for ground information, Octavia refuses to tolerate the moment any longer and risks her life because she knows Lincoln will break down to save her.

4. She makes the cave sexy

Let’s be honest, the caves have extremely high humidity, sharp edges, bats, and some of the craziest insects in existence. These elements don't typically create a sexy vibe. But when Octavia and Lincoln are together, their chemistry is explosive, and not even a rabid bat can stop them from getting dirty in the cave.

5. She never lost faith in Bellamy or Lincoln

Bellamy started out as a power-hungry bastard, while Lincoln had a brief period as a drug-addicted, foaming-at-the-mouth cannibal. But Bellamy is her brother and Lincoln is her soulmate, so even in their darkest moments, Octavia loves, supports, and guides them back to their best selves.

6. She has the best grounding braids

Katniss Everdeen could use some braid coaching from Octavia because, let's be honest, her hair is amazing.

7. She volunteered to be a warrior

Octavia wants a purpose on Earth, so she decides to become a member of the Ground Force. Her first test: a fight with a scary-looking guy on the ground. While she certainly didn't win the battle, she didn't give up either. She just kept fighting.

8. She tells the truth, even if it hurts

Clark has made some seriously questionable choices as leader this season, and Octavia isn't afraid to express her frustrations. She told Clark that she was done with him forever after they captured Mount Weather. Octavia always tells the truth, even when things are cruel.

9. She doesn’t let fear get in the way

Octavia is not fearless, as fear is a natural human emotion. But she also doesn’t let fear hold her back. She jumps right into the fight when the need arises, and even after she's abandoned by her entire army (following Rexxar's shocking betrayal last week), she doesn't give up hope that there's still a battle to be won.
