With empowering songs like "Juice" and "Good as Hell," Grammy Award winner Lizzo is known among her fans as the Queen of Self-Love. In a recent series of now-private Twitter posts, the hitmaker hit back at social media comments about her body image, which, unfortunately, as Lizzo points out, appear all too often on her Twitter feed superior.
"I just logged into this app and this is the type of garbage I see written about me every day," she wrote on May 31 in response to a tweet questioning her weight. "It really made me hate the world."
As Buzzfeed noted, the hitmaker added that she's "tired" of having to explain herself when it comes to her body, adding: "This is what my body looks like, even if I eat super clean And work out...y'all talking about something you know nothing about." Responding to another tweet claiming Lizzo's body image is "her brand," the singer disagreed. Clarifying: "I'm not trying to be fat. I'm not trying to be smaller. I'm really just trying to survive and stay healthy."
Fans were quick to rally behind Lizzo following the recent Twitter exchange, with one user writing: "I just want people to leave Lizzo alone."
This isn't the first time Lizzo has hit back at comments about her body image in recent weeks. The singer gave a savage reply to a rude fan who asked her to "get dressed" on Twitter after performing at the 2023 Met Gala on May 1, prompting Lizzo to simply respond Said: "F*** you."
Fans of the singer were once again quick to send messages of support, with one user writing: "You tell her Lizzo." Meanwhile, another fan commented at the time: "I don't want anyone to disrespect my queen like this. "Lizzo is free today," another user wrote.
