TikTok fame has certainly catapulted British singer Mimi Webb to great heights. The young pop star, who launched her debut studio album in March and was recently nominated for a BRIT Award for Best New Artist, told Metro.co.uk it was her own performance.
Webb is now the first British female singer since Dua Lipa to have two singles reach the UK top 15 ahead of her debut album. With the release of her self-titled album "Amelia ," Weber is also promoting her latest pop song "Red Flag," and made her TV debut on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" in January.
At its core, the synth beat is a cautionary tale about not going back to someone who isn’t worth your time. In "Red Flags," Weber is with a man who isn't interested in a serious relationship with her—a situation, if you will. As depicted in the video, she's well aware of how toxic the situation is, singing: "A million reasons to leave/I need more hands to count them all." But even though she knew this, she ignored the warning signs and repeatedly fell into the trap of trying to make things work.
From "Good Without," "Ghost Of You" and "House On Fire" to this new song, it's no surprise that Webber is considered the queen of British breakup pop. In an interview with Official Charts , she agreed that her latest song fits the theme. "I think 'Red Flag' is definitely my revenge song [...] No one wants this song to be about them, you know?"
She also said that the song was inspired by real life. "I wrote this when I was actually back with someone. Deep down, it felt weird. Like, why did I seem more interested than him? That wasn't like that in the beginning! But I'm still so in love , even though I know that's not the case... I'm just crossing those red flags, but looking back, you connect the dots. I love you so much, and I guess sometimes you want things you can't have. It's really challenging and you have to have that discipline to walk away and I look back at our previous conversations and honestly, that person really wanted me to break up with them and I didn't even see that. ! I thought it was all green flags.”

Well, our first time out
You said you'd never settle down
no doubt (doubt)
You said your ex is still around
I found her stuff near your house.
What is that about? ('round)
Don't accept genius, yeah I'll see it
Even my friends hate me being with you (hate me being with you)
A million reasons to leave
I need more people to take stock of all the problems
But I keep crossing these red flags
I blame myself because I know it sucks
But I keep crossing these red flags
I'll see the signs but I'll still come back
I keep going through them when you
Touch my body, I don't listen to anyone
no one can stop me
I keep crossing these red flags
I'll see the signs but I'll still come back
So I keep running
Live at your parents' place
you said you would never leave
I guess that'll do it (Okay)
What I have to pay for dinner
Because being with you, I like this smell
Just keep the changes(changes)
Don't accept genius, yeah I'll see it
Even my friends hate me being with you (hate me being with you)
A million reasons to leave
I need more people to take stock of all the problems
But I keep crossing these red flags
I blame myself because I know it sucks
But I keep crossing these red flags
I'll see the signs but I'll still come back
I keep going through them when you
Touch my body, I don't listen to anyone
no one can stop me
I keep crossing these red flags
I'll see the signs but I'll still come back
So I keep running
Yeah (red flag)
So I keep crossing these red flags
Yeah (red flag)
So I keep running
