Bad Bunny apologizes to Harry Styles during his Coachella set

Bad Bunny is setting the record straight about allegedly covering up Harry Styles at the 2023 Coachella music festival. The Puerto Rican star performed "El Apagón" during the historic opening weekend on April 14, but a tweet displayed on the video screen behind him caught fans' attention. The news states that Bad Bunny can sing Styles' 2022 hit "As It Was," but Harry will never be able to sing "El Apagón."

On April 21, as the rapper took the stage for Coachella's second weekend in Indio, California, a very different alternative tweet emerged. "I'm sorry Harry. It was a mistake my team made. We love you. <3," Bad Bunny's apology message read. A few days ago, the musician's rep declined Rolling Stone 's request for comment, but clarified that "Bad Bunny" disagrees with the on-screen messages about Styles.

At that point, the visual design firm was already responsible for the content of the tweet. "Our intention was to create a lighthearted design that reflects Bad Bunny's personality and enhances his experience as a performer," a Sturdy.Co representative said in an April 17 statement on Instagram, according to Rolling Stone . "The artist's request in the El Apagón performance visuals was to use only images and not text in the tweets, which we are responsible for and will correct for Friday's performance. These visuals are a celebration of Bad Bunny and his A dedication to empowering his native island of Puerto Rico.”

Bad Bunny made history as the first Latino solo headliner on the festival's main stage. "Latinos have been playing rompiéndola (kill it) for a while," the hitmaker (real name Benito Ocasio) said during his nearly two-hour set, according to Billboard . "This is the first time Benito has closed the festival. It may be the first time, but it may not be the last."

The three-time Grammy winner's experience at Coachella wasn't all business. Bad Bunny's rumored girlfriend Kendall Jenner was also on hand to watch his performance on April 14, and a video that went viral on TikTok even showed her singing along to Un Verano Sin Ti 's "Después de la Playa" as he finished his performance Dance wildly. Later, the couple showed off PDA while walking around the festival, and Jenner also briefly appeared in one of Bad Bunny's Instagram Stories posted from the festival grounds. “They look very cozy together,” a photographer source told People on April 17.

That same weekend, Bad Bunny also appeared to address dating rumors on stage. "People think they know about celebrities' lives, but they don't," he said in Spanish on the April 14 show, according to Harper's Bazaar . "They don't know how we feel, what our lives are like. Experience. They will never know how a heart feels. Don’t believe everything you hear. You won’t get to know the real me through videos on Instagram, interviews, or TikTok. If you really want to get to know me, I invite you. come to my home."
