Just days after Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift reunited at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, the "Single Soon" singer gave fans some BFF bonus content. On September 16, Gomez posted two selfies with Swift at the beach on Instagram, one of which showed the longtime friends pouting cutely while enjoying a casual meal outdoors. "This is my best friend and she's such a badass," Gomez captioned the post, referencing Saweetie's 2021 hit "Best Friend" featuring Doja Cat. Naturally, fans couldn't "cool down" and in less than 24 hours the photos had more than 13 million likes and 77,000 comments, including one from Nick Cannon, who wrote: " Two of my favorite people!”
While it's unclear where the photos were taken, Billboard reports that they are likely throwback photos from Swift's Fourth of July party earlier this summer, as she wore Christie's Christy Dawn sundress is now sold out. This information will also be tracked given that Swift was photographed leaving New York City's Zero Point restaurant with Blake Lively that night.
However, Gomez and Swift were very much together at the VMAs near Newark, New Jersey, on September 12. After the two posed for photos together at the Prudential Center, where Swift accepted the Best African Music Moon Man trophy with Nigerian musician Rema for their song "Calm Down," the bubbly Swift paid tribute to her Friends blow kisses. After the ceremony, the good friends also attended the VMA after-party held at NoMad in New York.

Before Gomez posted their latest selfie to her grid, she shared a candid photo of them at the VMAs while jokingly poking fun at herself. "She looks beautiful and I look constipated," the "Murder in the Building" actor wrote on her Instagram Story. "typical."
In addition to attending awards shows and Swift's Independence Day bash together, the two have been supporting each other all summer long. Gomez performed with her 10-year-old sister Gracie on the Eras Tour in Los Angeles in early August. Later that month, Swift took to social media to express her love for her friend's new song, "Single Soon." "When your besties are the best," Swift wrote on her Instagram Story and music video clip. “I think I’ll be dancing to this song forever.”
However, the "Cruel Summer" singer likely heard the song long before the public heard it. "I played all the songs for Taylor before she came out," Gomez revealed during a recent Instagram Live, recalling the first time she shared 2019's "Lose You to Love Me" with her friends. "She's very supportive, so she loves the song. I love her. She's the best."
The Rare Beauty founder isn't the only one giving special previews of new music. "I remember the first time Taylor played 'Love Story' for me, we were in the hotel room and she said, 'This is going to be a new song on my new album,'" Gomez told radio station 104.3 MYFM. "Watching the [Eras Tour] show was so nostalgic, it felt like I had lived with her."
