One of Taylor Swift's ex-boyfriends has given himself a new nickname among the Swiftie community. Taylor Lautner handed out friendship bracelets to fans at the Grammy-winner's Eras Tour show in Los Angeles on August 8, and now the sweet words he wrote on the accessories are going viral.
Some attendees reported on Twitter that they got close to the Twilight actor at the show and ended up exchanging friendship bracelets with him, sharing photos of the handmade bracelets they received. Most fans write Swift's songs and lyrics on the bracelets, often using the colors of her 10 album eras to match their references. Instead, Lautner got more personal, creating several bracelets that read "Uncle Ty" with blue, black and silver beads surrounding the letter block.
Swift and Lautner dated briefly in 2009, a relationship that reportedly inspired her single "Back to December." Thirteen years later, Lautner and his wife, also named Taylor, have become a beloved part of the Swiftie fandom, hence the new "Uncle Ty" moniker.
Lautner teased the heartwarming gesture on his way to the show, sharing a photo on Instagram Stories of his hands on the steering wheel while wearing an "Uncle Ty" bracelet.
The pair came together when Swift featured Lautner in her "I Can See You" music video and brought Lautner on stage in the video for her premiere in Kansas City on July 7. Ex-boyfriends reunited. "He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album, and I would say he did every stunt you see in the music video," she told the audience introducing him. "He and his wife have become my closest friends, which is very convenient because we both have the same first name."
Lautner took the stage to show off some of the flips in the video, then praised Swift. "I have a lot of respect for you," he said. "Not just because you're a singer, songwriter, performer, but because you're a real human being. You're gracious, humble, kind, and I'm honored to know you." Lautner was the only one Swiftis was happy to accept One of the former members, there's a reason for that.
