The Backstreet Boys are rallying behind one of their own. The boy band paused a show at London's O2 Arena on November 6 to pay tribute to member Nick Carter's late brother, Aaron Carter, who died on November 5. He was 34 years old. After they finished singing "No Place," from their 2019 album DNA, Nick Carter bandmate Kevin Richardson first explained how the song was about family before directly acknowledging Aaron's death. "Our hearts are a little heavy tonight because we lost a family member yesterday," he told the crowd.
"We just wanted to find a moment in the show to honor Nick's brother Aaron Carter, who passed away yesterday at the age of 34," Richardson added. "He was part of our family and we thank you for all the love, all the well wishes and all the support." While Nick didn't speak during the tribute, he became emotional during Richardson's speech, as did the rest of his band Members AJ McLean, Howie Dorough and Brian Littrell hugged him.
Doro then walked to the front of the stage to introduce the band's next set. "We want to dedicate this next song to our brother Aaron Carter," he said, before launching into a rendition of their 2019 song "Breathe." "We're going to miss you, brother."
The "I Want Candy" singer was found dead in her Lancaster, California home, TMZ first reported. A representative later confirmed his death to Bustle, saying they were "extremely saddened and shocked" by his passing. The cause of his death is currently under investigation. "We ask that you give the family some time while they receive more information as it becomes available," the representative wrote in the statement. "We cannot express the outpouring of love."
According to People magazine , later during the London show, a montage of photos from the brothers' lives and careers played on the screen, ending with a personal portrait of Aaron titled "Aaron Carter 1987-2022."
