Brayden and Christina get engaged on Golden Wedding

Gerry Turner and Theresa Nester's love isn't just in the air. To the surprise of Bachelor Nation, Brayden Bowers and Christina Mandrell got engaged in a live golden wedding on January 4th.

Don't worry: Jesse Palmer assured viewers that Brayden had the couple's blessing, as this is often considered a wedding guest faux pas. The thrill of live television!

Braden's proposal

The moment occurred during a seemingly ordinary interview between Jesse and the new couple, who revealed the status of their relationship on the Bachelor in Paradise season 9 finale.

After sharing that he'd be moving in with Christina in Tennessee, Brayden said he had "something else" planned for the night - to a collective gasp from Bachelor Nation. Brayden first reflected on his time with Christina and her daughter Blakely before moving on to discuss his proposal.

"For the first time in my life I felt like I had found someone who I could unapologetically be myself with," he said. "I have no doubt that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. As Gerry said, we have so little time."

Christina's sweet response

Christina was just as shocked as her fans at home, but enthusiastically said yes. "Is this why we get our nails done?!" Brayden asked as she put on her Neil Lane ring.

The happy couple also joins the ranks of Bachelor Nation alums, including Charity Lawson and Zach Schalkross, who actually sent Brayden and Christina home during their respective seasons. Who knew these controversial contestants would find love outside of the show?

Despite not finding a match on Bachelor in Paradise, Brayden connected with Christina after filming. Brayden told Jess, she secretly texted her, and they soon started seeing each other, although they didn't make their relationship official until after the Paradise finale aired.

At the time, both took to social media to express their feelings. Christina wrote on Instagram that their future will be a place "where laughter, authenticity and the power of 'Americana' define our stories." From silly antics to heartfelt moments, we're on this adventure together Brigade, cheer each other on and create a home full of laughter and love. "

Brayden described Christina as "the biggest blessing of his life" in his post. "She has been with me through very difficult times and has shown me so much grace through it all. She has become my confidant, my accountability partner and my favorite person."
