Trevor Noah's 2024 Grammys Monologue Starring Taylor Swift and Meryl Streep

Trevor Noah hosted the Grammy Awards for the fourth consecutive time on Sunday, but the 66th annual event was also a personal first for the comedian. In previous years, Noah had never served as both host and nominee, but at the 2024 ceremony, he served as host and celebrated recognition for his comedy special "Trevor Noah: I Wish You Would" .

As the former "Daily Show" host told Billboard before the event, his dual role makes the show "fun" in 2024.

"I just hope I can get into the hosting zone, and then when my award comes around, I'm... totally in the zone," he said of the best comedy album category. "I just hope I'm in the right place."

As it turns out, the award for Best Comedy Album went to Dave Chappelle at the pre-show ceremony. With that out of the way, Noah felt a little less anxious during his Grammy monologue, and Meryl Streep felt a little less anxious.

Oscar Queen takes to the Grammy Awards

Yes, Streep made a surprise appearance at this year's awards show. The incident occurred when Noah called out Mark Ronson, who happens to be married to Streep's daughter Grace Gummer. "Mark Rosen, one of the greatest producers of all time - and, get this, his mother-in-law is going to be sitting here."

Cue Streep's entrance, blowing kisses to the astonished crowd. "You know what that means? It means the Grammys are going to win the Oscars. Yeah, I don't know how, but we just do it," Noah said.

Noah embraces his inner agility

Streep wasn't the only Grammy guest to show up late. After celebrating artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Carter, and Lenny Kravitz, Noah gave Swift and her team a nod as they made their way through the maze of attendees .

"The local economy around these tables improves when Taylor Swift walks around the room...Lionel Richie? Now Lionel Wealthy," Noah joked, He was referring to Swift's lucrative Era Tour.

He also said it was "unfair" for fans to complain about Swift's attention at Kansas City Chiefs games, saying she had no control over the cameras. "Just let her live," he said, adding that he would "get even" by turning his camera on the football player whenever Swift's name was mentioned. (He then practiced on Terry Crews.) Unlike a joke about the same subject at the Golden Globes a few weeks ago, this funny moment made Swift laugh.
