Prince William and Kate Middleton's newly released wedding photos will look familiar to eagle-eyed royalists. On April 29, the Prince and Princess of Wales released a purportedly unseen photo from the 2011 royal wedding to mark their 13th wedding anniversary.
The black-and-white photo, taken by the couple's favorite photographer Millie Pilkington, shows the newlywed royals posing inside Buckingham Palace on their special day. "13 years ago today," William and Kate captioned the portrait on their official social media pages.
The photographer also commented on the photo's release, writing: "Happy anniversary! Can't believe it's been 13 years. Remember this moment. Sending you both lots of love on this special day meaning."
However, some royal viewers spotted the photo back in 2017, when Prince William and Lady Gaga teamed up for a video call in support of the Heads Together campaign. (The Heads Together initiative was launched in 2016 with help from Prince Harry to address mental health issues by “changing the conversation.”)
According to People magazine , the 2017 video was filmed at Lady Gaga's California home and at London's Kensington Palace, William and Kate's former primary residence.
In the video, the wedding photo is briefly shown behind William's laptop, seven years after it was officially released by the Prince and Princess of Wales.
William and Kate's Royal Wedding
The Prince and Princess of Wales tied the knot on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey in London. The royal couple welcomed three children between 2013 and 2018: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
William and Kate also celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary in 2023 with a never-before-seen photo of the couple posing with their bikes while riding in Norfolk, England.
