Go away, Mirror of Erised – Britain’s most famous mirror is now the one in Colin and Penelope Bridgerton’s bedroom. Spoilers ahead for Bridgerton Season 3 .
While fans were mesmerized by the couple's carriage ride in the first half of "Bridgerton" season 3, the mirror scene in the second installment (out June 13) was always the main event. For the uninitiated: In Julia Quinn's "The Romantic Mr. Bridgerton," Colin and Penelope are about to sleep together for the first time, when Colin has an inspired idea. "I want to see you sit up so I can see how full and cute and big they are. And then I want to crawl behind you and hug you. I want to do it in front of a mirror," he said.
That vision didn't actually come to fruition in the books ("later," he promised), but fans saw it come to fruition in episode five.
"You are the smartest, bravest woman I know," Colin tells Penelope as they watch themselves in the mirror, tracing her body as they go. "You make me feel seen in a way I've never felt before. And your hair falls off your shoulders, and when you look at me, your eyes sparkle like two blue pools. Yours The way the lips open. The softness of your skin. And then there's that other part I've always dreamed of."
The pair embraced and kissed passionately after a heart-warming moment, during which Colin guided Penelope towards the mirror and helped her undress for the first time.
As showrunner Jesse Brownell told Vanity Fair upon the release of Part 2 , the following scenes tie into the season's final moments, revealing that Colin and Penelope are a The parents of a little boy not much younger than her nieces.
"In the first three seasons of Bridgerton we were literally living in eternal spring, so what was the time? But it seemed to us that they might have been conceived in the mirror scene," Brownell told the magazine . "So when you get to Season 4, you'll find out they already have their own kids and it won't be as crazy." What an eventful tryst!

When part two was released in the early hours of the morning, fans were quick to react to the exciting scene. Several viewers on X (formerly Twitter) praised the way Colin helped Penelope realize her true beauty. One fan wrote: "Colin took Penelope to look in the mirror and describe her beauty from the inside out and it changed my brain chemistry."

After spending some quality time in front of the mirror, Colin and Penelope moved their party to the sofa bed. Audiences were very pleased with the love scenes, especially with Colin and Penelope laughing and interacting with each other throughout.
"It really felt like the first real experience, full of uncertainty, awkwardness and giggles," one fan said. "You feel like two people are discovering something for the first time. Really well done pretty."
