There's been a lot of speculation among Taylor Swift's loyal fans about how the superstar will spend her 34th birthday.
Some fans on TikTok think Travis Kelce might be throwing the ultimate birthday bash for his girlfriend at his home in Tennessee. Unfortunately, however, he was unable to attend the celebrations. Other Swift suspected she would surprise release "Reputation" (Taylor's version) — but that wasn't the case, and the world is still waiting for a release date.
If you guessed that she'd be dancing the night away with her A-list group of friends in New York on December 13, you'd be right, because that's exactly what she did. Not surprisingly, she was "dressed up" for the occasion.
Taylor's Midnight -Coded LBD
If you've been following Swift's recent looks, you'll know that the singer has been rocking looks that sport a reputation for street style — including all-black outfits, snake-print accessories and plenty of croc-embossed staples. However, when shopping for outfits for her special night, she ditched Rep 's signature goth-glam aesthetic in favor of a midnight, "jewel-like" vibe.
Swift kicked off her night with dinner at the Lower East Side celebrity hangout Freemans, where she was spotted by paparazzi wearing a bedazzling little black dress by Clio Peppiatt.
The astronomical pattern featured Swarovski beads and crystals in the shapes of stars, moons and clouds, a nod to previous styles she wore during her Midnight era—think: the crystal-covered Oscar de la Renta mini dress and her starry blue Wearing a jumpsuit to attend the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.
Swift accessorized with just as much sparkle. For her jewellery, the A-lister opted for a timeless tennis diamond necklace, which she paired with stud earrings. She carried an Aquazzura crystal-embellished tote with her throughout the night, the same silver style she wore with a denim mini dress at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (Swifties, you know).
Of course, her shoes also had a subtle sparkle. Another pair of Aquazzura's black platform pumps stand 5 inches tall and feature a discreet shiny stripe on the open toe.
For extra warmth in the New York chill, she added a flattering cropped faux fur coat from Anine Bing, an equally luxe version of the one she wore to the Emma Stone movie premiere last week The top should be shorter.
A new celestial themed era?
While her birthday party was undeniably Midnight- related, some Swifties on TikTok thought she might be hinting at another project — possibly an astrology-themed album.
Detective enthusiasts like Ginnie (aka @TheThriftySwiftie) have pointed out that many of the singer's recent looks have subtle hints of planetary inspiration — remember her look for Stone's special screening earlier this month A gold clutch engraved with the Sagittarius zodiac sign? Or the star-shaped Louis Vuitton ring she's been wearing lately?
Ginnie's conspiracy TikTok video has already been viewed 200,000 times, so Swifties agree the theory doesn't seem so far-fetched. Fans will just have to stay tuned to see if this theme continues in future releases.
Star-studded guest list
Whenever Swift hangs out with her A-list friends, it's safe to say everyone pulls out all the stops (I haven't forgotten their GNO from early November yet). But December 13th wasn't just their regular Wednesday night get-together; they had to do something big for Swift's special day.
Blake Lively has clearly grasped the allure of high fashion as she arrived in a black leather midi dress with a thigh-high slit and plunging neckline. She paired it with striped sheer leggings, Christian Louboutin knee-high lace-up boots, a Chanel clutch and assorted gold jewelry.
Zoë Kravitz, Gigi Hadid and Sabrina Carpenter were also spotted around The Box nightclub, where they all continued to have fun — However, they both keep a low profile.
