This article explains how to download apps on your Samsung Smart TV. Apps let you watch more content from streaming services and more.
Your Samsung TV comes with many apps pre-installed, and you can add various additional apps manually. Popular apps like Netflix and Prime Video are available on your Samsung TV. Here's how to download and install apps on your Samsung TV:
Before accessing apps on your Samsung TV, you need to create a user account. You can create a Samsung account from your computer or phone. It's also available on your TV: Settings > General > System Manager > Samsung Account .
Press the Home button on the remote control.
Select application .
If you don't see this message, press the back arrow button on your remote.
Select the Search icon .
Use the on-screen keyboard to type the name of the app you want, and then select it.
Select Install .
The application will be downloaded and installed on your TV. To open it, press Home and select the app.
Finding the Samsung App Store is easy: press "Home" on your remote, then select "Apps."
The Samsung App Store is located on your TV's home screen (also known as the Smart Hub). It is integrated directly into the Applications section of the Smart Center. Here you can see installed applications as well as new applications that have not been installed yet.
If you have an older Samsung Smart TV connected to the internet, you should still be able to download the new app. However, there are some exceptions. For example, some older Samsung TVs no longer offer Netflix. If your TV doesn't support the app you want, you'll need to use a dedicated streaming device, such as a Fire TV Stick or Roku, to access the app.
Downloading new apps to older Samsung TVs works the same way as on newer TVs, but you may need to press the Smart Hub or Internet @TV button on the remote instead of the Home button. From there, you can select "Applications" or "My Apps" to install something.
Installing third-party apps on your Samsung TV is not simple. Unlike Android-based smart TVs that allow you to load unofficial apps from third-party sources, Tizen-based Samsung TVs only allow you to download apps from official app stores.
If you want to use an app that's not available on your Samsung TV, you can connect a streaming device that supports the app, such as Chromecast, Roku, or Apple TV.
There are three methods you can use to connect your iPhone to your Samsung TV. The easiest way is to see if your TV supports AirPlay; to see if it does, select the mirroring icon in your phone's control center and see if your TV shows up as the source. Otherwise, you can use a Lightning Digital AV Adapter to connect your iPhone directly to your TV, or try an app like Samsung SmartView.
There are many things you can reset on your Samsung TV. To reset your Smart Hub, go to Settings > Support > Self-Diagnostics > Reset Smart Hub . To reset just the image or sound, try Settings > Image or Sound Icon > Expert Settings > Reset Image or Reset Sound . To completely reset the entire TV, including all settings, go to Settings > Support > Self-Diagnostics > Reset .
