The Google Pixel 8a is officially available for pre-order, and if you buy the new phone from Amazon, you'll get a $100 Amazon gift card. Considering it starts at $499 and comes with many of the features and specs of the Pixel 8, this budget phone from Google's latest 8 series is a great value. Basically, if you waited for the 8a to launch, your patience will be rewarded.

The $100 Amazon gift card offer is valid until May 20 at 2:59 a.m. ET or while supplies last. If you return the phone, Amazon will charge you $100 (but you get to keep the gift card).

Google has been releasing the "A" series in its new product lineup for years, and personally, they are my favorite smartphones. The "a" series Pixels are the cheaper versions of the series, typically arriving on average about six months after a new series is announced, and as Lifehacker's deputy technical editor Michelle Ehrhardt explains, the Pixel 8a is pretty much a replacement for the similarly priced 8. It has the same Tensor G3 processor as the Pixel 8/8 Pro, a slightly smaller 6.1-inch 120Hz "actual" display, and a slightly better camera system in terms of pixels, but the sensor may be weaker. Like other Pixels, the 8a also gets Google Gemini Nano support. Like the other Pixel 8, you get 7 years of guaranteed software support and the same new features .

Considering the Pixel 8a is $200 cheaper than the Pixel 8, it's not only a cheaper Pixel option, but it's also one of the best Android budget phones you can get right now. A $100 Amazon gift card is a better deal.
