If you're used to Zoom, these updates will help you become more familiar with WhatsApp.
Meta-owned WhatsApp has released new updates to its video conferencing calling features, including screen sharing, more participants and speaker spotlights.
Screen sharing includes audio, which the company notes is perfect for watching videos with friends. Now you can also video call with up to 32 people, so large party planning sessions can go off without a hitch.
When you're in a large multi-person chat, WhatsApp will be able to highlight who's speaking, making it easier to keep track of actions, rather than looking for a small square on the screen to figure it out.
Of course, all of these features are already present on other platforms like Zoom and Hangouts, so it makes sense that WhatsApp would want to bring them to its own video chat system. Most of us spend our days (and nights) interacting remotely with a variety of people, from colleagues to party mates, so improving the systems we use is a smart move.
Since its launch in 2015, WhatsApp has received a long list of updates, including disappearing voice messages, private passwords, group voice chats, and more.
