what to know
- To watch in chronological order of release, start with The Batman (1943) and end with The Batman (2022). There are 16 movies.
- By series: Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher era > Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy > DC Extended Universe.
- Most of the Batman movies are available on YouTube, Max, and Amazon.
This article explains how to watch the Batman movies in order of release or series, as there is no consistent chronological order as a viewing guide. We will cover Batman films that are released theatrically; however, we do not include direct-to-video animated versions or animated films in which Batman is not the main character,
While some Batman movies are available to stream on Max (formerly HBO Max), others are streaming on a different platform. If you don't have a Max account, you can rent most Batman movies through YouTube, Amazon Prime, and other online movie rental services. Availability changes constantly, so a movie that's on a streaming service today might not be available tomorrow.
