These days, it’s all about the side hustle—and the side hustle for your side hustle. From Etsy shops to astrology readings, we all have things to promote, but changing the link in your IG bio every time there's a new side project can get really annoying. Thankfully, Instagram recently launched a new feature that lets you add multiple links to your bio, so you can finally sell tickets to your next show and promote your podcast in one place. Here's an overview of how it works.
"Bio link" has become an important part of our social media lexicon, and now the popular phrase is about to get a much-needed upgrade. Mark Zuckerberg announced the new multiple links feature on April 18, allowing users to add up to five links to their bio instead of just one so that your followers can always Access your project. Do you have a Depop you want to promote? Link it. Did you just publish a new article on Substack? Link it. Do you want to attract more attention to your website? Yes, you can link it too. You can also add a link to any cause you want to draw people's attention to, or even a link to a funny YouTube video if you want. The possibilities are endless - okay, maybe not infinite since there are only five slots, but you get the idea.
How to add multiple links to your IG Bio
If you're ready to take your business, interests, and pursuits to the next level, here's a step-by-step guide on how to use the new features.
The first thing you need to do is update the Instagram app if you haven't already. Then, open the app and navigate to your profile. Next, click the "Edit Profile" button below your bio and navigate to "Links."
Click the "Links" button and select "Add external link." From there, you'll be able to paste the URLs and rename them to make them easier to distinguish. Once you've finished adding and renaming, you can drag and drop the links to place them in any order you choose. To see all links, just click the "Other Links" button in your profile and your URL will appear in a pop-up called "Links."
The new feature is available to all Instagram users, not just those with a larger number of followers, meaning you don't have to have a blue check next to your name to use the promotional tool. It's unclear if the feature has fully rolled out to all users, so if you don't see it right away, it's best to check back in a few days to see if there have been any changes.
