If you own a Chromebook or Chrome OS device, you can easily enable Google Assistant.

  1. Go to Settings .

  2. Select System Preferences on the left, then select Google Assistant .

  3. Make sure the slider is set to "On" .

  4. Enable the "Hey Google" setting next to "Voice Match" to allow the system to listen for and respond to that voice command.

School-issued Chromebooks cannot trigger Google Assistant using "Hey Google."

If your goal is to easily access Google Assistant, the easiest way is to buy a smart speaker from Google and install it next to your computer. You can also install the Google Assistant app (available for Android or iOS) on your phone or tablet. For a more DIY experience, buy and build a Google Voice Kit.
