There is something very sacred about listening to music while getting ready for a girls' night out. After all, who doesn't want to feel like they're in a montage sequence from a '90s romantic comedy? If dressing without music is unfathomable, then walking on the catwalk without a soundtrack is completely impossible. That's why Spotify is launching the ultimate GRWM playlist feature on September 7, featuring all the best tracks from Fall Fashion Month, so you can showcase your creations to the same tunes as your favorite models.
Get ready to make your New York Fashion Week dreams come true from the comfort of your own home. Spotify's new feature, called "The Soundtrack Behind The Runway," is an in-app destination that includes curated playlists from a range of new and established brands in the fashion industry. Advisry founder and creative director Keith Herron released a mixtape curated for the label's 10th season show, while Luar founder and creative director Raul Lopez took over the Fashion Forward playlist, which features the label's Spring/Summer 2024 collection of soundtrack presentation. Now that New York Fashion Week has begun, the streaming platform has partnered with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CDFA), organizer of the New York Fashion Week schedule, to debut the official New York Fashion Week playlist.
The playlist features songs selected by designers including ET OCHS, Kim Shui, Mara Hoffman and STAUD to inspire their fall fashion month collections. Hits you can hear on the soundtrack include Beyonce's "PURE/HONEY" and "PRIDE." Venus as a Boy by Kendrick Lamar and Venus as a Boy by Björk. There are over 100 songs to choose from in the playlist and 7 hours of play time, which means if you don't find motivation in the playlist, you'll get nowhere.
But the surprises don't stop there - starting September 13, Spotify users in New York City can listen to the inspirational songs that swept the show by scanning the QR code on Spotify's outdoor billboard in Times Square. If your fashion month plans don't include a trip to New York, Spotify's various other events in London, Milan, and Paris might be suitable for you.
As the annual event takes place in London from September 15th to 19th, MAINS founder and creative director Skepta is teasing a WWB x MAINS playlist for his first Fashion Week show. Then, you can head over to the Italian Sunset playlist to see what GCDS founder and creative director Giuliano Calza has been listening to during Milan Fashion Week, September 19-25. Finally, as Paris Fashion Month, which runs from September 25 to October 3, comes to an end, be sure to tune in to the “Fit Check” playlist, where creative director Rabanne Julien Dossena takes over, for an eclectic mix of French rap and international classics.
The destination runs until September 30 and can be found by searching "The Soundtrack Behind The Runway."
