While most fans were processing and absorbing the mysteries, marital implications, and historical depth of Beyonce's HBO Lemonade special this spring, others were entirely focused on fashion, the importance of hair, and Queen Bey's dapper personal style. This special is rich with meaning on so many levels. In terms of fashion, I personally love Beyoncé’s zip-up hoodie from the Lemonade special, which has a zipper on the hood and seams at the end. Yes, I am fascinated by the theme of female disdain and I continue to discover new meanings every time I listen to this album. However, my favorite in particular is that hoodie.
I wanted to own one as soon as I saw it. I searched online for days trying to find it, assuming it was an Ivy Park product.
My keywords must be crap because my search was in vain. I stopped googling hoodies because of the hot weather. I had mostly forgotten about it...until last Friday, October 7th when I went to see Bey perform at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
I told my friends at dinner before the show that I wanted Bay to sell this hoodie as part of her tour merch. Imagine my excitement when I walked up to the merch booth and saw this hoodie.
However, since it was the last day of the tour and a makeup show, the hoodies with Bey's name and Lemonade on them were sold out. Frustrated!
When I was trying to log out after the show, I did a few web searches on my iPhone and found this hoodie and its manufacturer. You can buy the Beyonce Lemonade Zip Hoodie; there are a variety of versions to choose from, including interchangeable versions. The "Swap Out Hoodie" was designed by Chicago-based designer Jermikko to allow the wearer to change colors. She was inspired to create the pieces after overhearing a mother tell her son that she couldn't afford him two different colors of the same hoodie, the Chicago Tribune reported. One side of the Jermikko Swap Out can be changed thanks to the zipper. Or you can choose a solid color. Just peruse the website to learn about all the styling options.
Jermikko also says that like denim and baseball caps, hoodies are timeless. As someone who wears a hoodie almost every day during the colder months, I can't disagree.
I'm excited to add a black Jermikko hoodie to my collection.
