Krispy Kreme is bringing a vegan version of its OG glazed donut to the UK

Here's a glimmer of hope to help you end the year on a sugar high. For the first time ever, new Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Vegan Donuts are available, available for pre-order today (December 21). And, I’m personally ready for what’s known as “melt-in-your-mouth joy.”

In addition to the original glazed treats and mini donuts, new Krispy Kreme vegan donuts will also be available "fresh off the line" on January 5. The new sweet treats are a UK online exclusive and customers can order them for delivery and takeaway in the New Year. So, does anyone eat vegan donuts in bed? Sounds like a happy new year to me.

Before we get started, how do they taste? Apparently, the vegan donuts taste just as good as the original ones. Featuring the light and fluffy donut texture and signature glaze, but with a "new custom vegan-friendly recipe." We'll make a judgment on that, and I'll have a dozen.

A dozen vegan ones cost the same as regular plain glazes, at £10.45 per box.

A Krispy Kreme representative said: “We’re excited to launch our first-ever vegan product, expanding the range of our iconic, irresistible original donuts, only available in the UK. “We know a March is a time for many of us to experiment with new lifestyles and challenge ourselves to create a plant-based donut that’s just as delicious as the original, with absolutely no compromises.”

Following in the footsteps of the excellent Greggs vegan sausage rolls and vegan KFC burgers, Krispy Kreme is the latest chain to cater to vegan customers, and now is the time. As the chain says, more than 2 million Brits now live a vegan lifestyle. And if you're planning on kicking off Veganuary in 2021, this might be the news you've been waiting for (and if you're keen on curbing your sweet tooth in the new year, then move on) s eyes).
