Just when you thought it was all doom and gloom, an extra-large tub of Lotus Biscuit Spread hits the market online and suddenly everything is sunny. Catering company Pure Gusto is currently selling its sweet caramel sauce in 1.6kg and 8kg containers, and I'm ready to go .
The smaller of the two tubs is priced at £9.99, the larger is £40 and can be ordered online. Pure Gusto recommends using it as a "delicious topping and filling for crepes, waffles, pancakes, cakes, puddings, ice cream, gelato, milkshakes and other desserts." I'd like to add my own advice to that list: "Use a spoon and put directly into your mouth."
The news comes after Lotus Biscoff announced a new chocolate bar packed with its signature flavour, and launched a stunning ice cream range last year. In other words, Lotus Biscoff is shining - and their numbers reflect it. The company announced in its financial report that sales increased by 8.4% in the first half of 2020. While the Belgian company attributes growth to extensive international expansion and an ever-widening product range, it has to be said that during lockdown it became the go-to ingredient for those keen to impress in baked goods and puddings .
There are countless Lotus Cookie baking recipes posted online, including Slow Cooker Cookie Fudge and Cookie Lasagna. This ingredient is also popular with vegans, who also consider this cruelty-free product a must-have ingredient in their baking. For example, this particularly spectacular Biscoff Battenberg recipe is completely vegan. Taking all of the above into consideration, you'd better order a large container of cookie spread as soon as possible.
