Here’s How to Make a Vegan Creamy Coffee on TikTok

You make coffee for yourself every day, but it's not the same as your favorite barista's drinkable art. While you wait for your favorite coffee shops to reopen, you can make TikTok's famous Dalgona coffee at home. The viral beer made its way to TikTok via South Korea and became a new thing for people to drink and bond while maintaining social distance. And if you can't find dairy in your apartment, you can still make Dalgona coffee vegan.

Extremely photogenic whipped coffee may look great on your Instagram, but my fellow vegans know that "whipped" and "non-dairy milk" don't go well together. Even creamy oat milk won't necessarily froth well without a good frother, but that's OK - when you make Dalgona coffee, you're whipping up water, sugar, and instant coffee, and Not the milk itself.

It's actually very easy to prepare for your next TikTok or Instagram post. Making vegan Dalgona coffee is pretty much the same as making the dairy version. Measure out two tablespoons of instant coffee, two tablespoons of vegan granulated sugar, and two tablespoons of boiling water. This may not seem like a lot of ingredients, but you still need to add them to a large bowl so you can stir them properly. Of course, making Dalgona coffee is faster if you have a hand frother or a hand blender, but you can also use a blender or even a fork.

Without a frother, it can take anywhere from 8 to 15 minutes to whip together coffee, sugar, and boiling water until you have a heavenly soft cloud of foam. But judging by #dalgonacoffee's more than 200 million views on TikTok, the results were worth it.

After whipping your coffee, pour a cup of the vegan milk of your choice into a glass filled with ice and spoon the foam over the dairy-free milk. And...you're done! You can stir the entire mixture to make it more like a latte, or you can take a photo immediately to get the "gram." While you're at it, make one for your roommates, too.
