The weather is getting colder, the hems are getting longer, and this year – the eyes are getting darker.
Smokey eye makeup is making a big comeback this fall, with the slender reverse cat-eye shape and glamorous black smoky waterline seen everywhere on countless A-list celebrities, runways, red carpets, IG and more. Let's be honest, some of the top makeup artists in the industry agree that bold eye looks are going to get a lot of attention this season: think Euphoria- inspired graphic wings, lived-in grunge glamor (think morning smudged eye makeup) after a wild wild nights), reflective foil texture on eyelids, and more.
In the case of a reverse cat-eye, the focus is on the lower lashline, with smokey false wings extending outward to the temples. Use a pencil to draw a dark waterline (that's the tiny space between your lashes and your eye) and the result is as sexy as a siren. What's more, it creates the illusion of almond-shaped eyes, making it feel edgy and inviting.
Makeup artist Shadi Malek, who's worked on some of your favorite celebrities and social media creators, has this advice when it comes to the rising reverse smoky eye trend: "We're all so used to the classics 's smoky eye look, but the 'modern' smoky eye look blew us away. "The eye is an angular smoky eye that usually lifts the eye upward. It debuted in many fashion shows [this year]. "
In other words: try adjusting the angle of the wings and choose a slightly upturned angle for your prosthetic face lift (instead of the more painful threads and needles).
