"Fifty Shades of Grey" VS. 'Twilight'

As we all know, EL James's "Fifty Shades of Grey" started out as Twilight fan fiction. The location, Washington State, is the same, the characters are caught up in a romance, there's a constant back and forth over who's in control, and there's something unconventional about the guy in both relationships to define him (vampire, BDSM). But the difference is that Fifty Shades of Gray involves more sex and less werewolves. Well, there are other differences, but obviously these are the main ones. So when it comes to Fifty Shades of Gray and Twilight movie adaptations, it'll be interesting to see how the overlap in the source material plays out on screen. After watching the newly released Fifty Shades of Grey , I can say that in many cases, not only are these movies similar in content, but they also look similar.

First, let’s cover some basics. Fifty Shades of Grey's Anastasia Steele and Christian Gray face off against Twilight 's Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. Anna and Bella are naive and adventurous, both inexperienced in romantic and sexual relationships, but both are quick to fall in love. As for Christian and Edward, neither is willing to dedicate themselves to a woman who loves them because of their unique qualities - BDSM and true vampires, respectively. Yes, in this fanfic, BDSM stands for vampires.

So, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. Here are 11 instances where Fifty Shades of Gray is similar to the first Twilight movie.

mothers

In "The Twilight Saga ," Bella's parents are divorced and her mom lives in warm, sunny Phoenix with her new husband, a baseball player. In Fifty Shades of Grey , Anna's parents are divorced and her mother lives in Georgia with her new husband. When Ana goes to visit them, we see her drinking Cosmic Beer at the country club but secretly worried about her relationship with Christian. (I know, the picture of Bella and her mother wasn't from the first movie, but the whole "mom makes me happy but I'm hiding a vampire/BDSM secret" thing is still there.)

Second level playboy

Ana has a friend in the movie, José, who seems well-adjusted and enjoys photography. I think he's supposed to be similar to Mike from The Twilight Saga , but then again, Anna's coworker at the hardware store was also a bit flirty with her, so maybe he's Mike. So should Jose be Jacob? It doesn't quite align. Anna has no one actively stopping her from being with Christian, like Jacob was with Bella over Edward. (Is her freedom holding her back? Does Jacob represent her freedom?!) Anyway, all of these people - Jacob, José, Mike - are here to make Christian and Edward jealous, because While they won't be completely committed to what the ladies need, they can still become completely jealous and overbearing out of protectiveness. Yeah, men?

car accident

Edward used his body to block the force of the car, saving Bella from being hit by the car. When Ana accidentally walks into oncoming traffic, Christian pulls her back to the sidewalk. In this case, there is a clear winner!

General car

Both Edward and Christian are very fond of expensive cars and both have a fleet of cars waiting for them in their garages.

More cars! !

Bella and Anna both drive shabby but super cool old cars. Bella has a pickup truck and Anna has an old Volkswagen Beetle.

piano

Both Edward and Christian play the piano to release their inner demons. Or something else.

Everything has an icy blue tint

Is this what Washington is like?

bite lip

so. a lot of. Bit your lip.

large spacious residence

Both the Cullens and the Grays came home with loads of food. Christian lives alone (well, unless a submissive lives with him), but he has a lot of space, his "painful red room" is the size of my entire apartment. As for the Cullens, they don't even sleep but live in a modern-looking mansion.

Awesome family dinner

Sure, the Grays may not be as intimidating as a group of vampires, some of whom still have trouble controlling their thirst for blood, but they are somewhat intimidating to the wealthy businessmen in their own right.

flight

You must know that there is a scene in "Twilight" where Edward carries Bella on his back and jumps from tree to tree so that she can... experience the thrill of being a vampire...? Yes, that one. He even says, "You'd better hang on to the spider monkey." A similar scene in Fifty Shades of Grey is the scene with Anna and Christian on a glider, and I have to say, the glider scene is far less cringe-worthy.

Fast! Someone dubbed the "Twilight" dialogue for the "Fifty Shades of Grey" scenes. I'm telling you, it will match perfectly.
