I have a Kylie Lip Kit, but is it worth it?

Ladies and gentlemen, I have legal evidence. The Kylie Lip Kit is definitely the real thing. These liquid lipsticks are winning hearts due to several factors. They sell out as soon as they are launched and restocked, leading to price gouging by third parties. Fans were frustrated at being denied orders. I'm starting to wonder if Kylie lip gloss sets are just cosmetic unicorns that don't really exist because they're getting harder and harder to get. And then...I got one . Is it worth the trouble of putting my hands, uh, lips on it?

After months of writing about Season 1’s suede-like neutrals and speculating on colors for the Valentine’s Day collection, I can proudly say that I’ve worn my KLKs in real life , it lives up to expectations. This is a very unique product and different from all other matte liquid lipstick categories on the market.

This is how I score. I was in New York for a conference on February 5th, which was the day the new Valentine's Day collection dropped and the day the original three-piece set was restocked. I quickly checked the website for availability, clicked on Candy K, and expected to be turned off when prompted to place my order.

To my surprise, it passed. I spewed out a string of "OMGs," grabbing the attention of those sitting nearby. "It's okay," I said to no one in particular. " I just bought the Kylie lip kit ."

I couldn't believe my luck when I received the confirmation email saying that my order had been accepted, my credit card had been charged, and my KLK would soon be in its magical state.

It took her a minute to get here, though. Candy K arrived on February 16th, exactly 11 days after I placed the order. This is game by game.

The cool, dripping pattern of the tubes extends to the transport material.

I couldn't hold back my excitement and didn't wait to go home. I had to open the box in the privacy of my car. Okay, there are people parking near and around me, but I don't care who raises their eyebrows at me as they walk by my car and gush over my selfies.

Oh my God, you guys! Kelly wrote me a note.

prove!

The tip of Kelly's lip is on the back of the box.

Candy K is a lighter shade of pink than I expected. This is a richer, more rosy nude.

I can't wait to use my KLK to paint my wrinkles.

I took off the sunglasses I had been wearing and drew lip liner first. I also filled in the surface of my lips with eyeliner. The coordinating shade is creamy and won't tug or pull. It's also the same color as the liquid lip gloss.

The scent is floral, a bit synthetic, but not pungent. I read a review somewhere that said the scent was overwhelmingly vanilla. So, I expected it to smell like MAC Lipglass, like birthday cake diffused in a tube. But the Eau de Lip Kit is much more floral.

Now, about the app. Once applied, the Lip Kit lipstick will start to dry out. You don't have a lot of room for error, so paint carefully with a mission. Yes, I made that stupid kissy face on purpose.

My lips feel like they are coated in microfiber or suede. But does that mean my lips feel like couch cushion material? There's nothing weird about it! The lip kit is very lightweight while clinging to my lips. It's not drying or uncomfortable at all.

In fact, it has a cream to powder consistency and feels a bit like eyeshadow on my lips. I absolutely love the texture of velvet.

So, is it worth the effort and patience of waiting to get it? I say it without hesitation – it’s totally worth it. This is a unique product and different from other liquid mattes I have tried.

It stays put and doesn't dry out the junk on my lips. Feels soft and light. And it looks sexy.

Here are some possible alternatives. In terms of color and texture, the closest it comes to is Kat Von D Everhaving Lipstick in Lolita. In terms of color alone, the closest drugstore dupes are Revlon's Ultra HD Matte Lip Gloss in "Seduction" or Maybelline's Vivid Matte Liquid in "Nude Thrill." If you need your Candy K fix, pick one up, stat!

All in all, the KLK is truly something special. Kylie Jenner really thought of something here.
