Ariana Grande is in an Ozzy state of mind. The "7 Rings" singer stars as Glinda in the upcoming film "Wicked" in November 2021, alongside Cynthia Erivo's green-skinned Elphaba. Since then, fans of the original Broadway show have patiently awaited its release. Fans seem to be getting closer to the release date.
On January 20, Grande posted an on-set video on TikTok of herself singing a classic "Wizard of Oz" song — this time from the original 1939 "Wizard of Oz" movie. Wearing a chunky pink knit sweater, Grande crooned an angelic a cappella version of "Over the Rainbow," originally sung by Judy Garland. "Wanted to sing you something but don't want to sing anything that isn't 'Ozian' right now :) Stay in my little bubble for now...full of love," Grande said in the caption of the TikTok video.
Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Grande is currently filming, so her blonde hair strategically hidden under a hoodie is likely part of her Glinda the Good Witch costume.
The next day, original Broadway cast member Glinda Kristin Chenoweth also donned her fluffiest pink outfit for a TikTok video duet with Grande. "You know I had to sing this duet. Going over the [rainbow] with my baby girl," the video's text reads. The Broadway veteran aligned himself with Grande, writing on TikTok: "Just two Ozians."

"I love you with all my heart," Grande replied in the comments section. "Baby! It's mutual," the Wicked alum replied.
When the young singer was first cast as Glinda, Chenoweth proudly passed the torch to her. "I'm not sure I've ever been so proud. You were destined for this role from the first day I met you," the Pushing Daisies star wrote on Twitter.
The two of them walked a long way like this. Grande was just eight when they met, when she had a crush on Chenoweth during a performance of Wicked, the musical based on the novel by Gregory Maguire. Chenoweth quickly felt like a mentor to the budding singer, especially once they started working together, first on the set of Hairspray Live! Back in 2016.
In 2018, she appeared on the 15th anniversary special of Wicked with Chenoweth, but she began singing Elphaba's song "The Wizard and Me," which was written by Idina Menzel of. Then in September 2019, the pair released a duet of Lesley Gore's 1963 hit "You Don't Own Me." Most recently, in 2021, when Grande was a judge on The Voice , she asked Chenoweth to be one of her team's mentors.
Chenoweth is just one of the "Side to Side" singer's many famous friends. Grande also has an enviable friendship with current It Woman Jennifer Coolidge.
