Taylor Swift is going punk. On June 5, the 12-time Grammy winner announced the tracklist for "Speak Now" (Tyler's version) , which will feature Fall Out Boy and Paramore's Hayley Williams on her two previously unreleased "From the Vault” for a special collaboration. Fall Out Boy will appear on the first "From the Vault" track, "Electric Touch," while Williams will appear on "Castles Crumbling." The other four Vault songs include "When Emma Falls In Love", "I Can See You", "Foolish One" and "Timeless", which will be added to the 16 newly recorded Speak Now tracks.
In her announcement post, Swift explained that the two pop-punk bands greatly inspired her lyrically while writing her 2010 release "Speak Now," Growing up as a teenager and into a young adult. “Because ‘Speak Now’ is primarily about my songwriting, I decided to go to the artists that I felt had the biggest influence on me as a lyricist at the time and ask them to sing on the album,” she said. "It's so cool and generous that they agreed to support my version of Speak Now ."
Swift finally gave her nod to "Innocent," a Speak Now song she hasn't performed live since 2010. "I recorded this album when I was 32 (and still growing) and can't wait to unveil it on July 7th and give it all to you," she wrote.
At a meet-and-greet in New York City on June 2, a fan gave Williams, who had previously teased some Swift-related things, a Speak Now -themed friendship bracelet. "Let me tell you, this happened in a really funny moment where you're wearing this and I'm saying this," she said, as seen in a viral TikTok video. She and Swift have been friends for years, and she Paramore opened for the first two shows of the Eras tour in March. Some fans also pointed out how Swift's choice of collaborators maintained the lyrical and spiritual punk-pop nature of "Speak Now," despite the album sounding anything but punk.
Fans may have to wait until "Speak Now" (Taylor's version) is released on July 7 to hear Swift's new collaboration.
