Dolly Parton joins TikTok and TikTok debuts a song about baking

TikTok has welcomed another legend. New Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dolly Parton has joined TikTok with a new song about baking. In her first TikTok video, the "9 to 5" singer debuts a new holiday song — aptly titled "Berry Pie" — that fans can use as a soundbite on the social platform. "I love to cook, I love to bake / Bread, cookies, pies and cakes," she sings. Honestly, the same.

Parton launched her new account on Dec. 4, sharing a montage of memorable moments from her career with the caption, "I'm here!" In a follow-up, she joked about her tardiness: " Better late than never!"

She posted her first video with the new content the next day, when she asked fans to share their own baking blunders after she messed up the topping on her own cake. "I refuse to accept anything but cake," she quipped, as her new song played in the background. In less than 24 hours, Parton has amassed more than 500,000 followers on TikTok and likely activated their sweet tooth.

While Parton's foray into TikTok is very welcome, she doesn't need to join the platform to feel her impact, as #DollyTok is already a hugely popular genre and community on the site. According to Variety , TikTok videos with the hashtags #DollyParton and #DollyTok have accumulated more than 6 billion views. Parton responded to the wave of popularity by sharing TikTok compilations of fans over the years, highlighting everything from Parton's classic outfits to latte art to dance moves to her biggest hits.

Interestingly, Parton ran into some trouble a year before joining TikTok. In September 2021, TikTok outraged fans when Parton appeared to kick her off the platform one day after she posted what appeared to be her first video. "Hey, I think I'm on TikTok!" the singer said in the now-deleted video. "I'm just here to tell you that everything is going to be okay... If I can do it, you can do it... I believe in you." However, it turned out that the account was a very convincing fake account, the site said Realized this before anyone else. Parton's checking account has been verified, proving that no one can cheat the Queen of Country.
