Everyone said "Yeah!" When Usher was announced to headline the Super Bowl 58 halftime show, he called it "the honor of a lifetime" and promised the performance would be "comparable to anything he's ever done before." It’s different from other shows.”
Before the big day, he prepared himself for an unforgettable performance. First, he negotiated with the NFL for a 15-minute extension, two minutes more than the average halftime show. Then, as he revealed to Vogue in December, he arranged for a surprise group of guests to join him on stage, all of whom were inextricably linked to R&B culture.
“This was a night I planned specifically to bring R&B to the main stage,” he told the outlet. “Not just R&B music, but R&B performance, R&B connection, R&B spirit.”
Here are every song Usher performed during the Super Bowl halftime show, along with the guests who joined him.
1. "catch up"
Arthur opened the halftime show with his 2005 single "Caught Up," surrounded by a troupe of dancers and acrobats.
2. “Love in this club”
Usher then launched into his 2008 hit "Love In This Club," but not before sneaking in his 2015 single "U Don't Have To Call" and 2004's " Superstar" clips.
3. "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys
After trying out a move, Usher ceded the stage to his collaborator Alicia Keys, who sang her hit "If I Don't Get You" on piano.
4. "My Boo" by Alicia Keys
Wearing a new outfit, a sequined silver vest, Usher once again joined Keys on stage to perform their 2004 Grammy Award-winning duet "My Boo."
5. "Confessions Part 2"
Jermaine Dupri's performance of the iconic title track comes after he announced they were celebrating the 20th anniversary of Usher's Grammy-winning album "Confessions."
6. "Burn"
After a brief interlude featuring 1997's "Nice & Slow," Usher continued with the "Confessions" medley "Burn."
7. “You screwed up” with her
Usher continued his string of throwback styles with his 2001 hit "U Got It Bad," in which he dramatically took off his shirt. She joined him on stage for the song — which was briefly spliced into “Bad Girl” — and stole the show with her guitar playing.
8. “OMG” with will.i.am
Back in 2011, Usher joined will.i.am during the Black Eyed Peas' halftime show. This year, will.i.am returned the favor, singing "OMG" as Usher and his dancers turned the stage into a roller skating rink.
9. "Turn Down For What" with Lil' Jon
As Usher took off his skates, Little Jon jammed to his 2013 hit "Turn Down For What."
10. “Yeah!” with Little Jon and Ludacris
In the finale, Lil' Jon joined Usher on stage to perform their 2004 hit "Yeah!" complete with choreographed dance numbers. Ludacris joined them on stage to sing his verse, and the three completed the song (and performance) together.
