Lala & Ariana's Most Confusing Moments on Vanderpump Rules

Like most relationships on Vanderpump Rules , Lala Kent and Ariana Maddix's friendship is more complicated than Taylor Swift fans theorize. A minute later, the two were fighting like Jax Taylor and Tom Sandoval in Sur (without getting physical). The next moment, they're hooking up in the back seat of a car Sandoval is driving (yes, really).

Needless to say, the journey of their friendship was almost as tumultuous as Scandoval's. This was even more apparent in Pump Rules Season 11, which began with Kent supporting Maddix in the wake of Sandoval's cheating scandal, but also questioning the strength of their friendship.

Now, reports suggest that their friendship may be "over" after Maddix "eviscerated" Kent during the Season 11 reunion, which was filmed on March 16. Kent addressed the rumor on The Talk , teasing that "only one of them is true."

Given their history, it's unclear if they're still talking or have reconciled off-camera. Before fans find out, relive the tumultuous moments of Kent and Maddix's friendship on Vanderpump Rules .

Their friendship began in 2015 when Madix did not invite Kent to her 30th birthday party because Kent had just started working at Sur.

But Maddix was quick to express regret. "I remember spending a lot of Mondays in high school finding out about this super cool party that was happening the previous Saturday, and it was such a bad feeling," she said in one episode. "I'm not trying to make anyone else feel that way."

Over time, their friendship blossoms in unexpected ways. In season seven, Sandoval revealed that Maddix and Kent had sex in the back seat of his car after picking them up at a bar. Maddix was annoyed with her then-boyfriend for telling the story, but after reconciling, they recounted their date after the show, with Kent saying they were "a drunken mess."

Five years later, they had no regrets, with Kent telling Sandoval during the Season 10 reunion, "I loved Ariana so much — enough that I ate her cookies in the back seat of your car and I'd do it again."

“Don’t AF*ck”

Over the course of two seasons, Kent and Maddix went from hooking up to IDGAF mode. In the Season 9 premiere, the two got into a heated argument over comments Kent made on a 2021 podcast, in which she said of Maddix, "You leave me alone, I don't care about you." That podcast led to Kent taking to Instagram blocked her friends and continued to fight throughout the season.

"I was born cool"

Madix and Kent's strained relationship sparked another row in the season nine finale after Maddix and Sandoval learned that Scheana Shay planned to get married secretly the weekend of James Kennedy's engagement. Kent doesn't like the idea, and their fight gives us Maddix's famous quote, "I was born cool."

Heading to the White House

It took just one season for them to patch things up again, with Kent fully siding with Maddix when Scandoval came on. In fact, their friendship spilled over to Capitol Hill when they attended the White House Correspondents' Dinner in April 2023 with their former boss, Lisa Vanderpump. Perhaps this is a sign that this friendship will eventually show up in the presidential election.

"She became a god"

The Season 11 trailer ends with an even more tense ending, with Kent seemingly reacting to Maddix's post-Scandoval success, saying: "I've never experienced someone being cheated on and then all of a sudden, she becomes God." During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live , Kent clarified that she was "so proud of her friend," and that was proven when she supported Maddix in her Broadway debut in Chicago .

However, she also said the show would provide context for her comments once it airs. Between Kent's comments and the reunion rumors, they've once again left fans wondering where exactly the two are today.
