The Best Tweets of the 2024 Golden Globe Awards

Just one week after the New Year, the 81st Golden Globe Awards kicked off the 2024 awards season.

This year's Golden Globes, hosted by Jo Koy and broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, saw Oppenheimer sweep the Globes, with " Succession ," "The Wretched " Things," "The Bear" and "Beef" won more major awards. Barbie made history by winning the inaugural Film and Box Office Achievement Award. Jennifer Lawrence, America Ferrera and the cast of "Suits" were all A-listers who provided some of the night's biggest audience moments.

Swift was once photographed whispering to bestie Selena Gomez. Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet were spotted kissing in the crowd during an awards show. This year's Golden Globe Awards undoubtedly left a lot of topics for domestic audiences.

Taylor Swift is not happy

One of the first viral moments of the night was when Khoi made a joke about Taylor Swift earlier — something the singer didn't appear to be a fan of. Noting that the Golden Globes air after two NFL games, the comedian said the ceremony will be different from a football game because there will be "fewer shots" of Swift.

At that moment, the camera captured Swift taking a sip from a champagne glass and looking unhappy. "Taylor Swift doesn't look happy after host made NFL comments," one viewer tweeted, while another added, "Out 2024: Something bad about Taylor Swift Joke. Already given up."

Bill Hader and Ali Wong stole a kiss

When "Beef" star Ali Wong won the award for Best Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Movie, boyfriend Bill Hader gave her a congratulatory kiss and reminded the internet collectively that they were a couple. "This is a fun reminder that Ali Wong and Bill Hader are dating," one user wrote.

Meanwhile, this may seem like new information to others. Another viewer added: "Some of us didn't know Ali Wong and Bill Hader were dating and some of us are going to need some time to digest that."

Kevin Costner quotes 'Barbie'

While speaking with America Ferrera, Kevin Costner referenced the actor's feminist Barbie monologue — much to the surprise of fans on X (formerly Twitter), who mostly took credit on the teleprompter. "Kevin Costner, do you remember my monologue about femininity in 'Barbie'?" Ferrera asked. Costner deadpanned: "No."

Some cited his low-energy delivery, while others joked that "Kevin Costner definitely hasn't seen Barbie" and "didn't want to be there." Someone else tweeted: "Kevin Costner says Barbie's monologue is not on my 2024 awards season bingo card."

Jennifer Lawrence Get Out of Here

When No Hard Feelings nominated Jennifer Lawrence for best actress in a motion picture musical or comedy, she told the camera: "If I don't win, I'm leaving." (Spoiler alert: She didn't win.)

Fans appreciated the joke, with one writing, "Jennifer Lawrence is so unserious," while another lovingly added, "We don't deserve" her.

Strong Suits Reunion

Four years after its hiatus, former Suits cast members Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, Gina Torres and Sarah LaLar Sarah Rafferty once again gathered at the Golden Globe Awards, and her popularity is rising again. "My happiest scream of the night came from this sensational Suits reunion. Much love to them all (we miss you Meghan Markle)," one fan posted on X .

The nostalgia even inspired another user to demand "a new season of Suits now." A Suits spinoff is in the works, so calling for a new season of the show doesn't seem that far-fetched.

Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig be in 2025?

After hosts Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig made the audience laugh with their performance on stage, some fans on The X are nominating the duo to host the Golden Globes in the future, while others want to Know why they were not chosen this year. "You mean Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig were in the building but they weren't hosting?" one viewer joked.

Another agreed that the producers missed a major comedic opportunity, adding, "Make it count."

Their performance at the 2024 ceremony had fans recalling their memorable last awards performance more than a decade ago. In 2013, Wiig and Ferrell hilariously tried to guess what each nominated movie was about based solely on its title.

The consensus online is that if it doesn't happen again in another 10 years, it's a crime.
