There's a new reality TV dating show in town, and it sounds like a perfect cross between "The Bachelor" and "Sex and the City."
Variety reports that Bunim/Murray Productions and acclaimed author Candace Bushnell have teamed up to produce an upcoming dating show called Is There Still Sex in the City?
The play tells the story of four friends in their fifties who give up their busy city lives and come to a country castle to find love there.
"They'll try out boy toys, try out older football players, romance wealthy guys, and even flirt with their fantasy man," the synopsis teases. "But ultimately, who can truly steal their hearts, and can our ladies bring sex back to the city?"
"Immersive Dating Experiment"
Speaking of the show's premise, Sex and the City author Bushnell described women in their fifties as "the hottest new dating demographic."
"I should know that I am one of them," she continued in a statement. "Having dated men of all ages for decades, I'm excited to create a show that combines my passion for relationships with the opportunity to help women like me find love again."
Bunim/Murray President Julie Pizzi also spoke about the planned series and praised Bushnell's dating expertise.
"We think Candace's brand grows with her audience, and her expertise in the dating space is an incredible entry point into the immersive dating experiment," Pizzi said in a statement.
Bushnell has been called the real-life Carrie Bradshaw, and her former New York Observer column spawned the original Sex and the City book, which was later published in 1997. Adapted into the hit HBO series starring Sarah Jessica Parker.
SATC aired for six seasons from 1998 to 2004 and spawned two movies. The show's biggest reboot is just that The show started airing in 2021 and was recently renewed for a third season.
